The purpose of the cooked meals benevolence ministry is to show love, kindness, compassion, and hospitality. As Paul encouraged, “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace” (1 Peter 4:8-10).
-
Members volunteer to take meals to families or individuals who are experiencing a difficult situation, such as sickness in the family, hospitalization, bereavement, a new-born, moving into the community, or other form of upheaval or change.
-
The meal delivery is organized through email or text, and an online scheduling system such as, “Take Them A Meal” is used.
-
Meals may be scheduled for one or two weeks depending on the need and can be either home-cooked or purchased, simple or elaborate, depending on the giver’s abilities.
